Political and Physical Maps of Africa

The first of the maps of Africa produced by National Geographic came out in 1899. It was titled "Seat of War in Africa." At this time very little was known about the African continent by the western world. This first map plus the many others that followed played a major part in helping people learn about this continent.

map-of-Africa Several of these maps were physical style maps covering subjects such as the history, population, political development and plants and animals of Africa. Other maps produced by National Geographic just covered certain regions of the African continent.
