Maps of the British Isles
National Geographic produced several excellent maps of the British Isles. You will find many of these maps filled with a wealth of information on the history of this land. These maps also have many notes and illustrations of interesting places, tourist attractions and special events.

Britain Ireland Scotland
This first maps brought out by National Geographic were mostly political maps. Some of these maps had elaborate borders and legends which made them excellent for framing and hanging on the wall. Later on in the 70's National geographic started bringing out physical maps providing lots more information.

1. A Modern Pilgrim's map of the British Isles - June 1937 (36"x30") This is a beautiful political map produced by National Geographic in 1937. It contains several illustrations of famous people and places along the outside of the map.
2. British Isles map - April 1949 (32"x26") This informative map comes with an illustrated border and stylish legend. It has many places of interest including cathedrals, ruins, battlefields and more.
3. British Isles map - July 1958 (25"x19") Here is a political map which includes insets of major cities, along with the Isle of Wight and the Shetland Islands.
4. Shakespeare's Britain - May 1964 (25"x19") A beautiful collector's map of Britain based on John Speed's map "The Kingdome of Great Britaine" from his 1611 atlas. This map shows the settings of Shakespeare's plays and various points of interest throughout England, Wales and Scotland.

5. Traveler's Map of the British Isles - April 1974 (32.5"x23") Side A: This political map has a wealth of information on national parks, events, sites of interest and tourist activities. It contains inset maps of Dublin, Edinburgh, London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
6. The British Isles - April 1974 (32.5"x23") Side B: This map contains an abundance of information on interesting places, events, sites of interest and tourist activities. It has historical information about popular tourist destinations.
7. Medieval England - October 1979 (29"x22.5") Side A: This historic map shows England in the 8th century and Henry II's empire, 1154-1189. It has a wealth of historical information and beautiful illustrations.
8. British Isles map - October 1979 (29"x22.5") Side B: This is a political map with sites of interest, ruins, battle sites, transportation routes and more.

9. Historic Ireland - April 1981 (20.5"x14") Side A: This educational map of Ireland has historical overviews of three eras of Irish history: pre-Norman, Medieval and Modern Ireland. It contains maps on pre-Norman Ireland,
Medieval Ireland, population changes and the percentage of Catholics by county.
10. Ireland and Northern Ireland: A Visitors Guide - April 1981 (20.5"x14") Side B: This map has a wealth of interesting historical facts and sites. It has inset maps of Dublin and the British Isles.

11. A Traveler's Map of Britain and Ireland - June 2000 (31"x20") Side A: This is a beautiful physical map of Britain and Ireland. It contains lots of interesting notes on several areas of the region. There are also inset maps of
London, Edinburgh and Dublin.
12. The Heart of Tourist London - June 2000 (31"x20") Side B: This is a huge street map of the major tourist area of London. It contains several informative notes on places of interest in the city of London.
